Relentlessly since the early 70s, through his assemblages, double takes, sight gags, and sleights of hand, B. Wurtz has been helping us recognize the flexible and expansive life of many of the mundane materials and objects which fill our lives. His keen mind-eye coordination, deadpan wraparound thinking, and light touch illuminate and imbue the functioning and/or dysfunctioning of such things as produce nets, plastic bags, coat hangers, shoe laces, buttons, house hold construction debris, packaging, obvious ideas, and utterly the most basic art materials with a sprightly life that is at once a matter of fact and poignant to the point of requiring reflection.

Quiet, intelligently humorous obviousness powers his hows and whys and whats, reminding us that a similar magnification of form and function exists in the world all the time, and that our slight adjustment of such things as placement, context, or point of view may easily move us from the mundane to the sparkle.
